After Dedicated Facebook Buttons, Now Comes Nokia Asha 210 With Dedicated Whatsapp Button

Nokia has been struggling with sales, but its Asha series has been doing decently well. Nokia has announced launch of Asha 210, a qwerty phone with world’s first dedicated WhatsApp button.

The Asha 210 comes in peppy colors and a QWERTY style design and I guess Nokia hopes to get some social success with this one.

Nokia Asha 210 Specifications

Nothing extraordinary here. Nokia Asha 210 comes in both single SIM and Dual SIM formats.

  • Series 40 OS with 2.4-inch QVGA (320×240) screen.
  • Internal memory of 64 mb and expandable upto 32 GB using an external memory card.
  • Edge and Wi-fi connectivity (No 3G)
  • 2.0 MP camera at back with a dedicated camera button.

The Nokia Asha 210 is available in yellow, cyan, black, magenta, and white. The estimated retail price for the Nokia Asha 210 is around 72 USD i.e. less than INR 4000 and it is expected to start shipping in the second quarter of 2013.

Our Take on This

Well, it is true that Nokia has tasted success with the Asha series, but honestly, I feel Nokia is moving a few steps back with this one. Almost everyone wants a smartphone these days regardless of whether they need one. Under such circumstances, I guess many would pay a little more and get entry level Android smartphones rather than the old Series 40 OS that comes in the Asha.

Whatsapp is definitely popular, but I don’t think a mere button will help.

What do you think about the new Nokia Asha 210?
