This wall mounted plug and play device based on based on Plasma Air Sterilization Technology claims to reduce the COVID Viral load to 99.9% in the air and surfaces by producing ions.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us a little more about how microbes in the air impact our lives. These tiny organisms that can´t be detected by the naked eye float around in the air. Some are harmless, others can be deadly, as we now know.

They can enter our body through our eyes, mouth, nose, or open wounds and bites. Microbes like SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), COVID-19 etc., are also capable of spreading via indirect contact. That means, when an infected person sneezes, coughs or touches surfaces like doorknobs, handles, and countertops, they can leave the microbes behind. When another person touches the same surfaces or breathes the air where the residue from evaporated droplets is suspended, the pathogens get transmitted.
This is how COVID-19 has spread to the extent that we have had to lock ourselves up in our homes. The world is constantly looking for solutions to get past this disease that has wreaked havoc in every sphere of life as we know it.
After brainstorming and understanding the need of the hour, a team of innovators and doctors from Allabout Innovations came up with an innovative and ´make in India´ solution, Wolf Airmask. They claim the non-regulatory medical device is the only one in the world that has the ability to produce 100% ions in an area of 1000 sq. ft. and 10,000 cubic feet volume, reducing the COVID Viral load to 99.9% in the air and surfaces. Also, it does not produce any positive ions or ozone that are harmful in nature.
The Tech Panda spoke to Sujesh Sugunan, CEO of Allabout Innovations, about their innovative solution.

Features and Safety
The Wolf Airmask is based on Plasma Air Sterilization Technology, providing a coverage of up to 1000 sq. ft area with 10,000 cubic feet volume. It can discharge up to 100 trillion negative ions per cm3/second, which bind with the surface protein or spike protein of Coronavirus, or any other harmful virus and microbes present in the air and neutralize it.
This is also the only device that was tested against SARS Cov2 Virus at RGCB (Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology), which is ICMR’s top-rated technology centre under the central government.

“Their conclusion is that our device reduces the COVID Viral load to 99.9% in the air and surfaces,” Sugunan explains.
The device has further been tested against other viruses and Bacteriophage MS2 as well, resulting in the same efficiency. Tests were conducted at SGS and Dubai Municipality.

“We have received all approvals and certifications (CE) necessary,” he reassures.
At INR 29,500, this plug-and-play device (40 W consumption), requires no maintenance for 70,000 hours (Approx. 8 Years). It weighs only 2.5 kgs and could be installed in a wall-mount manner.
Inspiration
During the first lockdown, the Allabout Innovations team was connected in keeping their town safe along with the district administration.
“We were able to keep the cases down to a zero at one time, thanks to the scientific inputs we gathered from around the world. Some of our team members were involved in the trace project, enabling mobile testing units using negative pressure, which was later taken all over the state and the country. We also designed low-cost face shields and other solutions to fight the pandemic,” Sugunan recalls.

During this stint, there was a need to protect the ambulance workers and transportation people as there were the most vulnerable group. Their first product was a technology they had studied from Germany.
“We made the first 20mg ozone generation machines, which were using corona discharge for production. Later, our scientists were able to come out with a better solution by enabling the air to sanitize itself by thrusting the air with negatively charged ions,” says the science and technology buff.
“Even though the technology was used in the world for a long time to treat other kinds of illnesses, like asthma and depression, no one thought of enhancing the ions production to sanitize the air. We were able to generate the trillion ions mark by our patent pending design and attain the desired results. The results are now validated by many government agencies around the world, including Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Dubai central laboratories, etc.,” he adds.
USP
Apart from protecting from microbes, the Wolf Airmask also claims to help in reducing difficulty in asthmatic patients, reducing stress, boosting immune system functions, and increasing metabolism of carbs and fats. It also helps regulate sleep patterns and mood. Negative ions have also been touted to help with depression and anxiety.

A 2013 meta-analysis of 33 studies conducted in this area found that there is a correlation between exposure to negative ions and reduced levels of depression, although it had no effect on sleep or anxiety.

Growth Story
Within a month of launching Wolf Airmask, Allabout Innovations received international orders for 20,000 pieces of the device. They have received orders from 30 countries. Orders from abroad have come from European countries such as Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia in the Gulf, among other GCC countries, countries in North America and Africa, besides Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Nepal.

Domestic demand has come from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal, besides Mumbai and Delhi. Some of the places where they have installed their products in India include the National Institute of Virology, Alappuzha at the Virus specimen handling room, the Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion, Trivandrum, Apollo Tyres, Disney Network, IOCL Bottling Plant, Cochin, Calicut, and Kollam, to name a few.

Future Plans
The Allabout Innovation R&D team is engaged with upcoming products mainly from the domain of biomedical devices and also based on electrical engine development.

“We are looking to launch a telemedicine service Call my Doctor, to allow people to connect with doctors online for consultations. We will launch the service within the next week and will roll it out in phases. We will start with Kerala and scale it up,” Sugunan concludes.
